Privacy Policy — SG-JB Traffic

Overview

SG-JB Traffic ("the App") helps commuters check live traffic conditions at the Singapore–Johor Bahru border crossings. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about what data we collect.

Data We Collect

Anonymous authentication

When you first open the App, a random anonymous identifier is created using Firebase Authentication. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any personal information. It is used solely to associate your commute schedule and push notification preferences with your device.

Commute schedule

If you set up a commute schedule (checkpoint, direction, days, departure time), this data is stored in Firebase Firestore and linked to your anonymous identifier. You can clear your schedule at any time from the App.

Push notification tokens

If your device receives push notifications, a Firebase Cloud Messaging token is stored to deliver traffic alerts. Tokens are automatically cleaned up when they become invalid.

Crash and error reports

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports and error logs. These reports do not contain personal information and are used solely to improve App stability.

Analytics events

The App logs anonymous events (e.g., API failures, notification delivery) using Firebase Analytics to monitor service health. No user-identifying information is included.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No names, email addresses, or phone numbers
• No location tracking or GPS data
• No browsing history
• No contacts or address book data
• No photos, files, or media from your device
• No advertising identifiers

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, push notifications, crash reporting, analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• data.gov.sg — traffic camera images and weather data (Singapore public APIs, no personal data sent).
• LTA DataMall — traffic speed data (Singapore public API, no personal data sent).
• Google Maps Distance Matrix API — travel time estimates (called from our server, not from your device; no personal data sent).
• fawazahmed0/currency-api — exchange rate data (public API, no personal data sent).

Data Retention

• Anonymous identifiers and commute schedules are retained until you clear your schedule or uninstall the App.
• Crash reports are retained for 90 days (Firebase default).
• Travel time logs are aggregate road-condition data with no user-identifying information and are retained indefinitely for historical analysis.

Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Firestore data is protected by Firebase security rules that ensure each user can only read and write their own data.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App contains no age-restricted content.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
